Safety Escort Services

NDSCS Police will provide safety escort services to and from vehicles, residence halls or work-study positions on campus to a student’s or employee’s residence hall or vehicle, upon request. This service is FREE to students and employees whenever they may need it.  Call NDSCS Police for assistance.

Emergency Communications

During an emergency, NDSCS will use the following means and methods of communication. Emergency notifications will be conducted through the Emergency Notification System using the following methods: Landline Telephones, Cell phones, Texting and Email

Media Inquiries

Inquiries from the media during or after an emergency will be addressed by a Public Information Officer. Refer the media to the office of College Relations and Marketing at 701-671-2245.

Emergency Protocols

The NDSCS Police staff have full arrest powers and are licensed by the State of North Dakota. The NDSCS Police, in conjunction with the Wahpeton Police Department provide vehicle patrol 24 hours a day year-round. NDSCS Police report violations of campus regulations and enforce city and state laws. Initial criminal reports, investigations and most cases are developed for prosecution. All criminal reports taken by the NDSCS Police are filed through the Wahpeton Police Department. The Wahpeton Police Department regularly shares information with the NDSCS Police, regarding incidents occurring in the area surrounding the campus. The NDSCS Police are armed and maintain radio contact with the Wahpeton Police department through the Richland County Central Dispatch Center.

The Fargo/NDSU Police have full power and are licensed by the State of North Dakota regarding incidents occurring in the area surrounding the Fargo location. They report violations of college regulations and enforce city and state laws. The Fargo/NDSU Police are armed and maintain radio contact with the local police department.

Safety Escort Services

The NDSCS Police will provide free safety escort services for students and employees on the Wahpeton campus to and/or from residence halls or work-study positions upon request by calling 701-671-2233 or ext. 3-2233. 

Student Security

Student Security (student employees under the supervision of NDSCS Police) assist NDSCS Police during the evening hours on the Wahpeton campus by checking exterior doors and reporting any suspicious vehicles parked in lots.

NDSCS Police are responsible for distributing warning announcements when there appears to be a threat to the safety/security of persons on college property. Announcements are sent through the College’s emergency notification system. Effective law enforcement involves a cooperative effort on the part of each member of the college community. All victims or witnesses to a crime on the NDSCS Wahpeton campus or at the NDSCS-Fargo location are strongly encouraged to report the crime immediately to the NDSCS Police or their local law enforcement agency.

NDSCS Police officers are available by prior arrangement, to speak to college groups or organizations on such topics as alcohol or other substance misuse, protection of property and personal safety. The NDSCS Police work in partnership with students, faculty and staff to promote a safe and secure environment conducive to excellence in teaching, learning and research.
