North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS) will host a ribbon-cutting and open house celebration for the new Career Innovation Center (CIC) on Monday, August 18, 2025, at 11 a.m. The event will take place at the CIC’s south Fargo location and is open to the public.

The new Career Innovation Center (CIC) will expand the presence of NDSCS in the Fargo region by increasing access to hands-on, career-focused education for a wide range of students—from high schoolers earning dual credit to college students pursuing a degree and non-traditional learners seeking upskilling or reskilling opportunities. Developed in partnership with Fargo, West Fargo, Central Cass, and Northern Cass School Districts (C3TEC), the CIC will offer both general education transfer courses and Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. The facility brings together high school and college learners in a shared environment designed for innovation, industry readiness, and workforce development.

“NDSCS is fully committed to helping solve the workforce needs of North Dakota. The CIC will allow us to shore up this commitment and continue to fill the workforce pipeline with the future leaders of industry and communities.” said Dr. Rod Flanigan, President of NDSCS. “NDSCS has received strong support from local industry partners for this project, and we look forward to many years of collaboration with both industry and educational partners.”

As the CIC continues to fill out courses, curriculum and programming, ultimately it will provide dedicated spaces for academic programming and technical training in fields such as:
     •    Allied Health (Nursing, EMS, Pharmacy Tech)
     •    Agricultural Science & Precision Technology
     •    Construction & Building Trades (Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical, Construction)
     •    Manufacturing (Robotics, Automation, 3D printing and modeling, Machining)
     •    Business, Marketing, & Management
     •    General Education (English, Math, Science)
     •    Computer Science (Cybersecurity, AI)

The ribbon-cutting ceremony will include remarks from state and local leaders, partners, and stakeholders, followed by building tours and light refreshments. Speakers include U.S. Senator John Hoeven and North Dakota University System Interim Chancellor Brent Sanford, along with project partners, educators, and members of the NDSCS leadership team.

“This project is a testament to what’s possible when education, business, and government work together,” said Kim Nelson, NDSCS Foundation Executive Director. “The CIC will help prepare the next generation of skilled professionals while fueling regional economic growth.”
