About Our Department
Emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics are often the first to respond to an emergency medical incident. People’s lives often depend on the quick reactions and competent care of paramedics and EMTs. It’s a high-pace environment that is always changing, but offers diverse challenges and big rewards.
In the NDSCS Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program, you’ll receive hands-on training from professional staff at Sanford Health EMS Education at Sanford Ambulance that prepares you to enter the workforce with confidence.

NDSCS offers a program certificate and an Associate in Applied Science degree in Paramedic Technology and is affiliated with Sanford Ambulance Service in Fargo, N.D.
I never thought I could find a job that I would ever truly enjoy and would be good at. Trust me, I tried many different jobs, from childcare to the military, modeling, publishing books, and more. You name it, I probably tried it or will one day. EMS was a chapter in my story that I never expected. I sat in lectures and felt smart for the first time in my life. I enjoyed going home after work to study. I found myself excited to go to a class. I truly thought I was going to fail when I enrolled in the class, but instead, I found something I loved. I found my new beginning in health care.
